Costa Rica Community Volunteer

In this community-building project, you’ll be involved in two specific activities: class workshops for local residents (particularly children) on any topic you have skills in, from dance to art to private tutoring. English language skills are especially welcome and appreciated, but anything you come up with is great! The second thing you’ll be doing is working in and around the Puerto Jimenez library and community centre, which always has a variety of needs – organizing, painting, running activities, or manning the desk. Everything you do will contribute in some way to the educational needs of this small and vibrant community.

An ideal participant loves to interact with kids and is willing to teach a variety of topics. They should be able to take initiative and be creative, proactive, and energetic! Room and board are provided with a local family living in Puerto Jimenez, likely close to the library. Specific schedules are created based on what’s happening at the time of arrival, but you’ll have flexibility to take in all that Costa Rica has to offer!
